French interior designing can be formal or casual, with many options in between.
French
Country is very popular. Shades of blue and cream for fabrics, wall
colours and painted furniture really soften a look. Adding accent
pieces and throw cushions incorporating complimentary colours and
patterns complete the look.
The French interior design choice should flow to adjoining rooms to maintain consistency.
French interior designing can also be very formal. The use of heavy, dramatic fabrics for drapes and upholstery pull together the finishing touches.
French
provincial furniture can be achieved by purchasing the style, or
refinishing existing pieces. I recently painted a dark walnut dining
room set with cream paint and antique gold highlights. The chairs were
reupholstered with a French style fabric in soft shades of cream, blue
and brown. This was a much bigger undertaking than I first
anticipated; however brought new life to old, drab furniture. It was
very affordable and eliminated the need to purchase new furniture.
There are an abundance of books and magazines available to help you find just the right look. Fabric stores offer a wide range of fabrics and patterns. Have fun and be creative.
