Dining Room
A formal dining room is a
lovely asset to a home.
My experience
has been that it is a room that is rarely used.
Many new homes built today
do not have a separate dining room.
Rather the eating area is incorporated into the open main floor.
If you do have a dining room
in your home, it is usually located close to the formal living room. Colors and fabrics should compliment the
living room.
Think about how you plan to
use the room. If your lifestyle includes lots of entertaining, decide how
durable the surfaces need to be. Family gatherings with lots of children are
very different from adult dinner parties.
Perhaps you want to consider more resilient fabrics and finishes to
accommodate children
The choice of accents used
in the dining room should showcase the feeling of the space.
This can be achieved by selecting a
dinnerware pattern containing the desired colours and pattern.
Dining rooms are an excellent location to
incorporate wall art.
Wallpaper is often used in a
dining room, bringing colour and texture to the hard surfaces.
I prefer to keep my dining
room fairly neutral, allowing the opportunity to change the feel of the room
with accents, depending on the season and the occasion.
