Translucent Drapes...When Would I use them?

There are times when you want something on the window to provide privacy, but you don't need to block light.

Examples of some translucent fabric are lightweight cotton, nylon, organza and muslin. This weight of fabric will provide privacy without making your room too dark during the daylight hours. These fabrics also tend to be fairly inexpensive.

Translucent drapes can have a subtle pattern or be plain. They can be made from a natural fiber or a synthetic yarn. The natural fabrics tend to appear softer in the way they hang.

If you are using fabric drapes and translucent window coverings together, the style should be similar. For example, if your drapes are formal then the sheer or translucent drapes should be formal as well.

Translucent drapes also tend to be a neutral color. This way, they serve their purpose of providing privacy without adding too much busyness and detail to the room.

In my opinion turns translucent drapes provide a nice soft finish to a window. They are usually easy to care for and inexpensive to replace, should the need arise.
